Was The Best Ever!

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Clawson Lions Club's "Down on Main Street" Car Show clearly was the best we've ever had! Despite a few short sprinkles after lunch, the sun kept the paint and chrome blazing all day Saturday, August 12th! More than 400 cars were in the show -- so many that we ran out of parking spaces at the curb and had to park some in the middle of Main Street. More than 8,000 spectators showed up to see the fabulous street machines. Everyone got to dance to the great oldies spun by the one-and-only Rockin' Ronnie while they stuffed themselves with all the good food and drink you could ask for. And when the judging was over, over 250 trophies and other awards found new homes with lucky owners.

We want to extend our sincere thanks to all the business and individual sponsors who make this event such a success. Without their unwavering support, in good times and bad over the past 25 years, we couldn't pull it off. A special thanks to our Corporate Sponsors Double Action Indoor Shooting Range, City of Cars, Weiss Distilling Company, and Whiskey Taco Foxtrot and all of the rest of our business and individual sponsors in the list below. Their generous support helps us cover the costs of putting on the show. Our thanks to the United Street Machines Association (USMA). They've done such a fantastic job over the past 25 years pulling all of the details together. All the judging, trophy presentations, promoting the show and logistical support -- there is so much that goes on behind the scenes to make an event of this size a success. Finally, let's not forget our biggest supporter and partner, the City of Clawson and all of the City staff. Without the help of the Police, Public Works and supporting departments, we couldn't shut down one of the major arteries in our town from sun up to sun down the day of the show and have everything back to normal without a trace the following day.

The "Down on Main Street" Car Show is the centerpiece of the Clawson Lions Club's yearlong fundraising efforts to benefit local charities. As always, all proceeds from the Show go to Leader Dogs for the Blind, Eversight Michigan, Beaumont Silent Children, the Penrickton Center for Blind Children in Taylor and all the other charities and projects the Clawson Lions Club supports throughout the year.

Every year, the Clawson Lions try to shake things up a bit, add something new, improve on what we've done the last time, pray for good weather and ask our sponsors to please help us again. This year was fantastic but we can't wait to get started on 2024. Next August will bring yet another opportunity to work together for all the right reasons -- the charities the Clawson Lions support through fundraising events like this and your generous contributions throughout the year.

Meanwhile, if you missed the Show, or forgot to bring your camera, or just want another peek at the cool rides, check out our Car Show Photo Gallery. Just click on the "Car Show" button above and pick a year from the drop-down menu. This year, we added nearly 100 pictures to the gallery!
