Is "car fever" driving you nuts about this time of year? Is the Woodward Dream Cruise just too far away? We can fix that!
The Clawson Lions Club will be hosting its own "big show" -- "Down on Main Street" -- one week before the
Woodward "Dream Cruise". Scads of chrome, fuzzy dice, wild paint jobs, thumping exhausts and totally "rad"
machines will dazzle your eyes and rattle your brain as Motown monsters take over downtown Clawson on
Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 8:00 AM 'til ???, on Main Street (Livernois) from 14 Mile south to the city
limits. "Where's Clawson?" you ask. Here's a map.
We expect over 10,000 car owners and visitors to come to town and ogle at more than 500 entries ranging
from antiques to street rods, muscle cars, trucks, boats, choppers, antique campers and bicycles,
stretching for a half mile down Main Street to the city limits. Admission is FREE and open to the public
with an entry fee for vehicles displayed in the show. So dust off that flivver, download the
entry form, send it in and start polishing!
All you "Boomers" (and Boomer wannabes) will be "dancing in the streets" to 50's and 60's tunes with
"Rockin' Ronnie". And while you're taking in the sights, you can stuff yourself silly with great food
and check out the fantastic deals offered by the local shops and street vendors.
In its 16th year, the "Down on Main Street" Car Show is the centerpiece of the Clawson Lions Club's yearly
fundraising efforts to benefit local charities. We'll be selling T-shirts, snow cones, 50/50 raffle tickets
and chances to win great prizes at our bright yellow tent.
As always, proceeds from the show will go to
Leader Dogs for the Blind, Michigan Eye Bank, the Penrickton Center for Blind Children in Taylor and
other charities.
Putting on a car show is a huge operation.
We couldn't do it without the incredible help of our show sponsors;
the City of Clawson's Mayor and Council, police and public works departments and supporting staff; and the
talented guys and gals of the United Street Machines Association.
By the way, participating in the car show as a sponsor is a great way to support the charitable work of the Lions Club
and gain incredible visibility with a huge crowd of car buffs. Again this year, Double Action Shooting Range
has offered to be our Corporate Sponsor. Double Action not only sponsors the show but also provides the mid-day
ceremony to honor our veterans and our country and enters a handful of their favorite classics. Download our sponsor form
for more information on this fantastic opportunity. You'll be in good company -- here's a list of sponsors from the 2013
show. And, of course, the best way you can thank them for supporting the show is to give them your business.
